Pitino is not leaving NY after now owning MSG. Only reason he’s coming back to Providence is for a free meal on Federal Hill.
I may be alone on this but I would much rather have my child play for Kim as a role model than Pitino. He’s bright and will figure it out. Let him grow with the job.
PC is not a substitute for Rhode Islanders wanting a professional team.
My last rant. Sports betting is ruining college sports. Many 18-35 year old guys are going to have serious gambling problems.
Michael, respectively disagree wih your last two points. I feel PC is RI's pro hoop team, hence why so popular and in the city. And with NIL, it basically has become a pro team.
Just look at college hoops in Boston, zero interest.
I mentioned above, NIL, I think that is ruining the destroying the game, along with the fact the players, can leave when they want. How do some of these kids go to 3 and 4 schools, and actually get a degee. Sad state of affairs
Bat, I agree that people view PC as their pro team. I just don’t think it’s fair to 95% of the players. Most will never even make the G League never mind NBA.
To be honest, I dropped my season tickets when I could no longer stand to sit there and hear guys who had too many beers, swearing at 19-year-old kids who are doing their best . Now that’s sad
And I agree that it’s sad that most of these kids never even get a degree. Would love to know the percentage of players not just on PC but across Basketball division one large schools that end up with a degree. I’ll bet more women end up with a college degree Playing basketball than men . Maybe Kevin can find that out.?
What are your thoughts on my other points, Bat. Appreciate your insight. Thanks
I get it with people yelling at these kids, I have never or will ever yell or boo the players or former coach.
These kids are now pros with the NIL $$, and there is zero loyalty. See B Hop.. in portal, after the last 2 years of collecting all that NIL $$, and saying cya to the Friars
I agree, Pitino has found a new home, however, I think if he were honest with you, he would tell you, he should have never left PC.
I'm a little different, grew up a PC fan, but am a URI grad. I have been a Friar season ticket holder for over 20+ years.
Sports betting... it's all about the $$, and with that comes the devil of gambling addictions.... not pretty.
Kevin- I still think that the coaching staff could have worked with Bonke during the season and that he could have been a much better option to back up Oswin. He was a competitive rower so we know he is athletic. But more importantly he has the height. Hope he stays next season.
I’m wondering how well the coaching staff gets players ready to play.
I know that Bobby Knight had a temper that was off the charts but I was impressed with his statement. It is not the will to win that is most important. It is the will to prepare to win! GO FRIARS!
Pitino suggested he would love to come full circle and finish his coaching career at Providence. Let’s do it!
