1. Ed Cooley shared his disappointment in his team’s three point percentage defense through two games this season, noting that Providence is typically very good at limiting opponent’s makes from beyond the arc. Cooley was blunt, essentially saying that giving up nine 3-pointers in two games needs to change if this team wants to be an elite defense.

Rider shot 9-24 from beyond the arc, while Northeastern was 9-14. A 47.4% shooting percentage against from beyond the arc ranks in the third percentile in the country.

It’s very early, and that number is bound to change, but it underscores Cooley’s point.

2. Providence has taken almost no midrange shots through the first week of the season. In fact, their five field goal attempts from midrange make up just 4.6% of their shots on the season. The national average is 12.6%.

Last season, 12.4% of PC’s shots came from midrange.
