The Friar Podcast: The End of the Kim English Era
As Adam Zagoria first reported, and multiple outlets later confirmed, Providence informed Kim English that they plan to part ways with him at the end of the season.
Billy and I were joined by former Friar Ted Bancroft on the latest episode of The Friar Podcast. We broke down all aspects of the news — documenting English’s three-year tenure, talking through what’s next for PC, and everything in between in this lively episode.
We hope you’ll give this one a listen. It’s available on Apple, Spotify, and SoundCloud.

Brutal game. Interesting podcast, Kevin. I was surprised there was no mention during it of the travesty of the Powell battery of the St. John's player and Kim's embarrassing non-reaction to the travesty immediately after it occurred. He had no one on one with Powell immediately post incident to educate him as to how PC does not play that kind of ball and allowed Powell to smirk and recruit the student body to support his antics. In my mind, it was the LOW POINT of a very difficult season. I imagine Kim's handling/non-handling of that event and the Press Conference thereafter led to his demise. The Dominican Friars don't tolerate that kind of behavior as I remember them. Nor do I. Let's move on.
I’ve watched every game this year and yesterday’s game from the very tip off I knew something was off. There was zero energy from the players. The biggest game that was in front of us after winning the previous 3 games we laid an egg at home. I’ve been around sports my whole life and I’ve never seen a team that gave such a pathetic performance. It’s almost seems like the players were told before the game that Coach Kim was not coming back. That’s how they played knowing they let their coach down. I don’t know what to expect vs Georgetown but I’ll be watching till the end. Good luck Coach Kim wherever you land next year.
