Turnover Issues Haunt Providence in a Blowout Loss to Marquette
Looking to grab a victory in Providence for the first time since 2019, Shaka Smart’s Marquette club left little doubt about the disparity between the #8 Golden Eagles and the hometown team.
Marquette’s 78-50 victory over PC included a 27-3 advantage in points off turnovers, and a dominant first half that featured a 21-0 run, 14 Friar turnovers, 6-22 shooting for the hosts, and a 47-20 disparity on the scoreboard.
The Golden Eagles could get whatever they wanted offensively when they put their mind to it, while Providence looked overwhelmed at every juncture with the ball in their hands.
This was, quite simply, a mismatch.
